Re: Should i pay back my salary?

Hi,

I just report myself to a new company on 21st of march 2016 and havent sign offer letter till today. However, i decided to quit this job on 31 March 2016 (tentatively worked for this co for two weeks) and they hv bank in salary from 21 march 2016 to 31 march 2016 to my account. When i meet up with superior ytd, to inform about resignation with immediate effect (cos i dont sign any offer letter yet) and he agreed. However, he asked me to pay back the salary bank in to me before (which is for march salary) bcoz he said i didnt actually contribute any yet to company. So, i want to ask whether i need to pay it back or i have the right to receive this money?

I don't know whether your superior has the right to decide how much you should pay back. What did your HR department say about it?

For service matters, you have to go through HR. Just returning the money may not be enough, the company may even want to claim more compensation from you for resigning without giving one month notice, despite your not having got the offer letter.

However, if you don't feel like paying back, it is up to you. Let them take whatever action they want.
