Re: Annual leave

Hi. Just want to confirm if that annual leave is employee's right. Our right to choose which day we want to take. My department is now doing draw lots for leave which we get days that we don't need. Cause in this case, we can't apply leave when we really need that off day. Is this legal? Can we lodge a complain?

When there a lot of employees it will not be possible to let all of them go on leave at the same time especially at year end. Companies have the right to schedule employees leave. Drawing lots may not be an ideal way. All of you can discuss with your employer for some better arrangement. Of course, you can complain if you want.

Of course we won't apply together. And I thought it is our employer's job to tackle with this problem. She grants all the seniors' request and juniors have to cover them doing lots of OT. And what if she schedules our leave and not granting requests on off day? We are just working for them. We have family and other activities too. On top of that, this just applies to my department. Out of almost 20 departments in my working area.
