I received a termination letter from my company due to redundancy on 15th July 2015.
In the letter it stated that my contract of employment has a 1 month notice period and my last day of employment will be 1st Oct 2015. I required to work through my notice period and 1 month of Termination benefit and severance pay will be paid.
I received an job offer from other company which required me to start work in September 2015 and i tried to talk with the company for early release. The company agreed with the early release request but they won't pay me for the Termination Benefit and Severance pay.
May i check with you do they have right not to pay me the termination benefit and severance pay although i have work through my 1 month notice period?
Yes. This is the point that i not understand and i asked on the reason to hold me until 1st Oct. The manager said need me for knowledge transfer and i proposed that i can work until end of Aug and there's 1 month period available for knowledge transfer.
I have working in the company for less than 1 year. Before that they agreed to pay me 1 month termination benefit and 1 month as severance pay for the redundancy compensation.
