I received a termination letter from my company due to redundancy on 15th July 2015.

In the letter it stated that my contract of employment has a 1 month notice period and my last day of employment will be 1st Oct 2015. I required to work through my notice period and 1 month of Termination benefit and severance pay will be paid.

I received an job offer from other company which required me to start work in September 2015 and i tried to talk with the company for early release. The company agreed with the early release request but they won't pay me for the Termination Benefit and Severance pay.

May i check with you do they have right not to pay me the termination benefit and severance pay although i have work through my 1 month notice period?

Appreciate your advice on my issue. thanks

With one month notice from 15 July, your last date should be 14 August, isn't it? Why 1st Oct? By the way, how long have you been working in the company before retrenchment?

Yes. This is the point that i not understand and i asked on the reason to hold me until 1st Oct. The manager said need me for knowledge transfer and i proposed that i can work until end of Aug and there's 1 month period available for knowledge transfer.

I have working in the company for less than 1 year. Before that they agreed to pay me 1 month termination benefit and 1 month as severance pay for the redundancy compensation.

Yes. Still working in the company. I will working until end of August.

Any advice can given to me ?
