Re: Annual leave change to absent without notice

For the past 20 years with the company, our leave system is to inform the supervisor either in person or by phone for leave application and submission to the hr dept. Recently I do inform about taking annual leave on selected date but was not applied and submitted by my supervisor and resulted my pay to be deducted. The supervisor refuse to apply and hr replied that without the signed leave form from the supervisor I cannot take annual leave.

I would like to enquire :-
1. Is it that the supervisor holds the right and power on my annual leave
2. Can I lodge this complaint to the Labour dept.

Thank you.

I think you are the one who made the mistake. Actually, leave application should be submitted direct to HR or at least, you should have verified from HR whether your leave application previously submitted to the supervisor had been approved or not. You just cannot take things for granted.
