Re: Termination Through Telephone

My newphew steal company stuffs and got caught. Boss ask me and my family and relatives to move out from workers quarter but allow me to continue work in the factory. I refuse to because he was so angry that when I call him to tell him i refuse to move out. He said i'm terminated from work. Will give me one month compensation. But when I see boss at his office. he said i can continue to work but i cannot stay in quarters. Can i ask for compensation?

It is going to be your words and against his. The authority may not know which one to believe. Make sure first before you bring the matter up about compensation with the authority.

thank you for your reply.

i am told i cannot ask for compensation because the boss did not give me termination letter and he asked me to continue work. verbal termination is not considered. is that true?

Yes it can be considered if you have proof or witnesses who heard what the boss said. Otherwise, the authority may not take your words for it. Have you stopped coming to office? If you still coming to office, then you are not sacked I supposed. If you have not come to office after the boss said you were terminated, then you go to the Labour Office and make a complaint. Let the Labour Office deal with the matter.

I went to office once to see the boss, but not working. Boss ask me to work when we met but I did not want to because he said in the telephone that I am sacked and I am now working with another company. Will I be considered not show up myself instead of being terminated? I want to make thing clear before I file a complain at labour office.

Not knowing head or tail of the story, I can`t say much. You should consult the Labour Office.
