Re: Working Hour

Hi Ms. Siew,

1. If a company current working hour:-
Mon - Thursday & Saturday 8;00am - 5:15pm (45 mins break)
Fri 8;00am - 6:15pm (1 hr 45 mins break)

Is the company breaking the law and what should the company do?

2. The company wish to change to 5 days week as follow:-
Mon - Fri 8:00am - 6:00 pm (1 hr break) ---> total working hour 9hrs/day

Can the company not to pay OT for 1hr working time from 5:00pm - 6pm? Because total
working hours/week = 5days x 9hrs=45hrs/wk which is not against the law!

Thank you for replying in advance.

I think you can calculate the number of working hours per week. If the total exceeds 48 hours, overtime wages should be paid. You can refer to section 60a of the Employment Act for details.
