Re: Boss asks us to work during public holiday without extra pay

I asked my boss if I am required to work during Labour Day (1/5/20) as it is a public holiday but I was told that working from home is considered holiday, so we will still have to work with ordinary pay. Does that make sense?

Did your employer required you to work from home? What sort of work you are contributing from home?

Yes working from home since the beginning of MCO. I am a teacher, I have been preparing teaching materials and doing online teaching for the kids.

Then yes, if you are required to work on 1 May. Should be paid (salary/26) x 2. However, it there is a dispute, you may have to prove that you were specifically required to work on 1 May, by the employer either verbally or in writing.
