Re: Deduction of travel allowance

My management have verbally informed our marketing manager during routine staff meeting that effective from July 2010, he is not required to do marketing work but assist the company in ad-hoc assignments as and when instructed by the management. The company continues to pay him his travel allowance which was given for marketing work from July to Sep 2010. Now the management wishes to discontinue with this travel allowance because he had been doing only office based jobs without travel. Can the management deduct this travel allowance in such situation? Please advise...

That's a management's decision. The staff concerned can always discuss the matter with the management.
