Re: Medical Leave for pregnant lady

All the while my company are allow staff take MC for the reason of pregnancy check up, but recently due to i pregnant, i go to take MC for check up, but HR refuse to accept my MC due to pregnancy check up, HR reason for me is our Boss is not allow us to take MC anymore due to pregnancy check up already, and only allow take time off. In this issue, i feel unfair due to why the HR didnt post any announcement or memo to the company? Is it possible that HR can reject my MC slip?

Since you are allowed time off for check up why waste your medical leave? Time off is better isn't it?

My company time off means after visiting the gynae......i have go back to my workplace.......but if i take the mc, after visiting the doctor, i can straight away go home, so why should i have to waste my time to back to office? Actually in this case, i just want to know is it company got right to refuse pregnant lady MC slip for pregnant check up purpose?

I see, you said MC slip, did the MC slip state that you were unfit for work for that day. What are the exact wording in the MC slip? Anyway, I think you better show that MC slip to the Labour Office and let them have a look so that they can give you a ruling on it.

yes, the MC slip there did stated : unfit for duties. I did ask my friend who work as HR at banking line, she did told me that the Labour Law is protect those employee salary below RM1,500 and below, if my salary is up to RM1,500 there is less of protection. After i heard i so wonder on it, because i been read the Employment Act, also didnt mention on this clause. Is it i refer the wrong Act? kindky advise.
p/s: i did call the Labour office, but hard to get attention. Do u mind give me the actual telephone no for me?
