Re: Employee on Probation

Dear Mr Siew, if an employee (Store hand) who is still under probation, date joined 16 June 2010. Recently we found that he always sought doctor frequently & MC, upon questioning, he said he got a seriously backache & he said that he might need to take a month rest. Please advise what should we do now? Thanks!

You can tell him the company cannot afford to have no worker for so long and suggest that he resigns first to get the rest and treatment. If he has fully recovered, he could apply for job in the company again if vacancies are still available.

In the Employment Application form he declared as "Sihat". It this consider he has breach of contract? Can we get him to leave? thank you!

He is now not "sihat", so what. One can always get sick any time, isn't it?

Thanks! But his sickness dignosed before he joined our company and yet he disclosed as "Sihat" in his employment application form. Thank you!
