hi, i would be appreciated if you can advise me on the matter about staff ponteng from work. if a staff ponteng from work, does the company have the right to deduct his/ her salary equivalent to 1.5 times of the pro-rata salary? with the terms spell out in the letter of employment? does this comply to the employment act/ labour law?

That is a disciplinary problem and firm actions have to be taken in one form or another. But normally, you don't state the penalties in the appointment letter, it looks funny.
