Hi Mr Siew,

My employer force me to sign a new contract but i refuse as my old contract haven't finished yet (only ended by end of Oct this year). he even threaten me saying that if i dun sign the new contract, he'll terminate my service.

If i'm terminated due to this reason, can i ask for termination and layoff benefit?

Please advise.

If the contract is one with duration not more than a year, you will not be entitled to layoff benefits. However, you have the right to complain to the Industrial Relations Department and make a claim for reinstatement.
