If some of our staff are covered under employment act, and their salary more than RM1,500.00.
And company is paying RM8.00/hr as OT for working on rest day & public holiday.

Is this fair to them?

If a worker's salary is 1000, OT for one hour for normal day will be (1000/26/8) x 1.5 = 7.20 For working on rest days, it is x2, for holiday, it is x3. From that you will know whether it is fair or not.

Just clarify with Payroll department. they say if the OT they earned are higher than RM1,500 salary's OT, it should be OK.

Is this right????

If the employees agreed, then it is OK. If the employees feel it is too low, they can always request for better payment.
