Re: resignation letter during maternity leave

good morning there. I was browsing the internet for some answers and I came upon ur website providing information on labour law. I'm sham and has been working with this company for more than a year now. Currently I am on maternity leave and shall be back to work next week.

At the same time I have been offered a new job somewhere else with good pay. Can I send my company resignation letter with effect from the date of my maternity leave or should I wait till it ends?

My termination notice should be 3 months, can i send work for a month and take 2 months of unpaid leave just to cover the 3 months duration??

What other alternative I can take if I am to leave the company in 1 month? My new job shall be starting in August 2010. I would really appreciate if you could provide some advice and help on it as the new job will surely be helpful in terms of raising my new born.

If you put in notice of resignation to coincide with your maternity leave, your employer may not want to pay you your maternity allowance. Another way is to give notice after your maternity leave.
