Re: Levy Deduction

Hi,
I have been told that the employer cannot deduct levy from foreign workers' salary, meaning that the levy should be born by the employer. Is this a rules under any Malaysian Act?
If the deduction was spelled out in the earlier employment contract, can the employer continue the deduction until the new contract is renew?

That is something you will have to consult the Labour Department in order to get the correct information about levy deductions.

For your info, there is no way that the levy is continued to deducted from the employee as there is a published that the employer should bear the levy. The employee will need to bear the levy charges until the date before the enforcement of the new levy rules. It might not be stated in the malaysian act but it is lawful...
