Re: Different working hours

Hi, have a few questions:

1) Can I structure a company to the extend of having an official work hour, eg 8:30am - 5:30pm for non-shift workers/ admin workers, and 6:30am - 4:30pm for shift workers?
2) In a contract for shift workers, must it be mentioned that they are categorised as shift workers?
3) Also for part time workers who are on call like delivery riders, should a contract be written up if they are paid by hourly, or by only docket rate?

1. It is up to the company to fix its own working hours of the employees to suit the needs of the company. It looks like you are only having one shift from 6.30am to 4.30pm. They are not shift workers. They are only having different working hours that's all. There is nothing wrong about that.
2. Just mention their working hours in the contract of service.
3. If they are paid by the hours, also mentioned it in the contract of service. Member, they are entitled to all the benefits under the Employment Act, EPF and SOCSO coverage.
