can staff be exempted from probation period? if the staff has worked on contract basis for 1 year, is it possible to exclude the probation period when he / she absorbed to permanent?
if this can be done, is there any implication?

Probationary period is just a term of employment. There is no legal provision requires employee to undergo probationary period.

There is no implication under the law if the company exclude the clause of probationary period. However, its good to have it in order for the company to evaluate the employee performance at the earliest opportunity of his/her employment.
