Re: Queries

I work in a retail line with salary less than RM1500, I do not sign any employment letter when I start work. Just a verbal communication on working day and working hr. May I know do I still entitled to the 60 days paid maternity leave ?

Yes, you are still covered by the Employment Act and you are entitled to the maternity benefits if all conditions are fulfilled. Anyway, you better ask for an appointment letter from your employer.

But I'm only work in a small boutique. There is no employment letter and I plan to go back work after 1 month confinement period. What if my boss give me an angpow instead of paid 1 mth maternity leave? Am I still covered under labour law?

By law, you should be entitled to 60 days maternity leave with pay. That is your right. If you are not happy with what your boss is going to give, you can complain to the Labour Department if you want to.
