Re: Deduction of paid bonus from Employee's salary

Would like to check whether a company has the right to deduct the PAID bonus from employee's salary?
The reason being is I noticed my company indicated in the handbook that they will deduct 100% full from employee's salary if that particular employee resigns 1 month after company issued bonus, deduct 50% if resign in the second month after company issued bonus and deduct 20% if resign in the third month after company issued bonus. Does the company has the right to do so? Please advise.

This just may be one way to discourage employees from saying goodbye immediately after receiving bonus. But the way they are doing it is quite unusual. For those employees not covered by the Employment Act may be OK for the employer to do that. For those who come under the EA, ask the Labour Department and see what they say about it.
