Re: Part time - work from home

Dear KL Siew,

I got a part time worker who worked more than 30% of the normal working hour but is currently working from home.

How do I intrepret the part time employee regulation? Non application section 3.

Shall we apply this section for my part timer?

Thank you.

You may just fit him into the category of Regulation 3(b) as a "home working employee". Why not consult the Labour Office?

I have called labour office in Cyberjaya, Jalan Ampang, Selangor.
It's either nobody pick up the call or they direct you to a phone where nobody will pick up. Finally call Subang office, got people answer but don't know how to answer my question.

I thought the non application is to fulfill both criteria in 3(a) and (b)?
Because it use the word 'and'.

May be just "casual employee" and "home working employee" are excluded. Anyway, try some other offices at this link. The best way is to visit the nearest one personally.
