Re: Can a company force staff to work during weekend and public holiday?

Dear sir/madam,

I'm a comision earner in a subsidiary company of bank. Offer letter is written that working hours is from 9am till 6pm monday till friday.But what I've experienced is we are
(1) compulsory to work during Saturday and even public holiday such as depavali ,Malaysia day and others WITHOUT paying any OT.
(1.1) it's compulsory to submit medical certificate IF absent to work on Saturday if we were sick.
(2) weekday compulsory OT until 8pm reason is sales is not meet the daily target yet.
(3) deduction of annual leave whenever late to work even is 10mins- ( it's not written in offer letter)

Kindly advise. Thank you so much.

I am not familiar with the job of a "commission earner" and what sort of contract of service you have signed with the company. Go and consult the Labour Office by bringing along a copy of the contract/appointment letter.

Commission earner as in in sales line. Can a company use the reason of we do not meet the target yet and force us to OT n work on public holiday without paying any extra allowance?

I am not sure how to calculate overtime based on commission earning. Try to discuss the issue with the Labour Office see whether they can give you some ideas.
