Re: termination

Company employed some staff, in LO stated they are giving 6 mths probation, they have joined company for 1.5 yrs and NO letter of confirmation were giveng to them after their 6 mths probation. Are they consider confirmed and permanent staff in the company?

Due to the downturn of company business, now the boss dicided to terminate some of them in this batch. In LO stated, both party are liable to give 1 mths notice, boss decide to give them one month written notice with full pay of salary and annual leave balance. Is company doing anything offence in dealing the termination?

For the first question, read up Probation for some info.
For question No. 2, the company can do that but the employees affected have the right to either complain to the Labour Department or the Industrial Relations Department. You can also read up Employment(Termination and Layoff Benefits)Regulations

so for our case, how is the treatment.

I've read the probation. So does it mean their status deem as probabtion?

Staffs received the termination letter inform that we should pay a retrenchment benefit. Is company need to pay the retrenchment benefit if company treat them as termination?
