Re: Minimum age for work & part time worker

Hi,can i ask some questions
1) If follow the Malaysia labour law, got mention minimum age for working? If employ people under age, do we need to submit EPF & Socso?

2) If employ part time worker, do we need to help them submit EPF & Socso?

3) EPF normally count from the basic which exclude allowances, then how about the Socso, need to include the allowances or not?

Thank you very much for your help. =)

1. Put it simply, try not to employ those under 16. Working age is governed by the Children and Young Persons Act. For EPF it is 16 and above. For SOCSO, any age.
2. Yes, you must.
3. Basic plus allowances.
If in doubt, contact EPF and SOCSO for more info.

Hi Siew, thank you very much for your information.

1) If employ the part time under 16, isin't also will cause problem? (Like for those work part time during school holiday). Then isn't also need to submit EPF & Socso for them?

2) The staff at retail industry isn't also follow the same labour law Employment Act 1955 or got other special one?

Thank you very much for your help.=D

I think you better get some official advice. Consult the Labour Office about working hours for the under aged workers, consult EPF and SOCSO about the respective contributions.

Hi...my company engage mostly contractors,. and only 2 staff under our employment of which we contribute socso and EPF for them. My question here : instead of socso can we put this 2 employees on private insurance cover ie. workman compensation and or anything relevant.

Thank you.
