Re: job termination

hello,

this question is on behalf of my husband. last december, his employer terminated him from work due to his illness. he was being attacked by minor stroke on october 2010 and given mc until november 2010. no mc(s) were issued after month of november and he asked for unpaid leave from the company. nevertheless, the boss asked him to report on 1st december without first assessing his ability to work. up to now his condition is better but he is unable to use his right side (hand, leg) 100% as before. we wish to take action on the employer. for ur info his salary was rm2500. tq.

You better go and consult the Labour Department and SOCSO. I don't know whether he is qualified for some benefits under SOCSO or not.

TQ.

we went to socso and got the feedback from them. BUT, i want to know is there anything that we can do with his previous employer as he terminated my husband on his own account without giving any compensation and considering the application for the unpaid leave. TQ.

Yes, you can approach the Labour Department or the Industrial Relations Department for advice.
