Re: Resignation issue

Below is the statement in employment letter:
Your are entitled to a one-time re-location adn sign-on bonus of xxx Amount. This payment carries with it an obligation to remain in employment with statschippac for minimum 1.5 years. Should you resign before end of 1.5 years, you will be required to pay the company a proportionate amount for every month of uncompleted service.

I want to tender my resignation, and giving 2 months notice. So until my last day, i have worked for 10 months. From my understanding, I need to pay back the company 8/18 X BonusAmount, is it correct?
But my boss said i need to pay 8 months salary to the company! This is not make sense. Please advise.

Don't know what is all about. I cannot make any comments. If they want you to pay, consult a lawyer.

Thanks for your reply. Is it the contract should be fair for both parties? for my case, i only receive 1.5 month bonus, but if i resign, let's on the first working day, then i will need to pay 18 months salary back to the company. This is very unfair and side to employer, should this valid?
