Re: Resignation

Hi,
I have an employee who has tender his resignation in the middle of March and request to leave end of the month 31 March 2011. However the contract says that he should be giving a 2 months notice. He is claming that the reason of resigning is due to his demotion from a Senior officer to an officer without prior communication. Please advise if getting him to stay to serve his full 2 months contract is the right thing to do? Thank you

You cannot physically make him stay. What you can do is to claim indemnity against him for short notice.

Hi Siew,
Is that possible when he has got a grievance case with us (HR) about his situation where he was demoted not because of his performance but because we have just change the policy. He is leaving due to this. Please advise. Many thanks

I am not sure about that. You just take action if you think you have a good case.
