Re: Shortfall of Notice Period

Hi there.

A confirmed staff of my company left her job without serving a one-month notice, as stipulated in her appointment letter. This left us short-handed and we did not have enough time to hire a replacement. She earns less than RM 1,500.

So, my question is if the Employment Act protects employers too? In other words, does the company have the right to demand a month's salary as compensation?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

You can, if you want, go to the Labour Department and make a claim against her.

I just received my company confirmation letter as a account clerk, but it mention I have to give 3 months notice before resignation. Should I sign the confirmation letter?
