Re: Treament of offsetting annual leave

Dear Mr Siew,

I tendered my resignation on 28/12/09, by giving 1 mth notice; my last day of service will be on 27/01/10. I have balance of 13 days annual leave.

I have request to bring forward my last day on 8/01/10 with offsetting my 13 annual leave with notice period. My HR informed me that, my pay will only pay up to 8/01/10 only. Is this correct?

why not pay up to 27/01/10 instead?

pls advise.

I don't think your HR is correct. Consult the Labour Department also.

Dear Mr Siew,

HR told me this is compansate for short notice instead of pay to company, i use annual leave to offset which is different from applying annual leave.. is that right?

I see! Then try to apply for leave when there is still time.

Celia, I had tendered my resignation as well where I had 17 days of leave (brought forward from 2 years ago + the same year), but I can offset it easily. Minus my non-working days (Sat & Sun x 1 month = 8 days), so I just worked for 6 days after my resignation notice.
