Re: Working on Sat and Sunday

My Office - currently we are working from Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm (9hours) and Alternate Saturday (9am to 6pm) and once a month Sunday (1030am to 430pm). We are in a private education institution. But due to shortage of people, we have been working on saturdays in a full month (instead of alternate) and two sundays in a month with the reason that insufficient manpower. As manager, they said there is no replacement leave given. (though as mentioned they have flexi hours, but with the shortage of people, the flexi hours would not apply) Is this valid from employment act point? I realized Malaysian local companies often take advantage of their employees and exploit them. Pls help!

From the Employment Act point of view, the practice is not alright. But if you are not covered by the EA, then you will have to do some negotiation with the management. If those days cannot be replaced, they should at least pay for it. Don't let them exploit you.
