Dear Mr Siew,

I am currently working for a company with an earning of RM3000 and RM 300 allowance.

Due to me seeking clarification on the my PhD studies that was agreed upon me signing up to the company. I had been charged with insubordination and disobediance and a letter was sent out to all the staff and and even third parties regarding my suspension from my role and relieving of my duties and responsibilities.

After which a meeting was held will all the staff while I was ommited out of the meeting. The next day I was presented a show cause letter. Which I replied on the charges

A notice was sent me and I was not given ample time, reference and resource to defend myself.

During the DI the panel consisted 4 members 3 of which is under the supervision of the one charging me which is the CEO.

They finally sentence me for demotion and pay cut of RM500.

Need your help and advice on my issue. If there anywhere or any person I can seek help regarding the matter.

If is possible for employee to be domoted and have his pay cut.

Really need your help.

Yes, you can consult the Labour Department or the Industrial Relations Department see whether they can give you any help.

I don't think so, IR deals with dismissal issues. But no harm seeking advice. The Labour Department has the power Section 69 of the EA to inquiry into decisions made the employers under Section 14 of the Employment Act. But, I don't know whether they will take up your case as your salary is over RM1500. Anyway, approach them for their advice.
