They may ask you to pay indemnity in lieu of notice.

If the notice period is not stated in your appointment letter, it is 4 weeks salary. You can talk to your employer see whether he will let you go without having to give notice.

Another doctor is taking over my practice by 1. 4 09 and I have notified my employee about the change of ownership. The new employer has given a new contract with increased pay and longer annual leave. Employee did not accept new contract, did not sign contract, and gives verbal notice yesterday 30.3.09 of leaving by 31.3.09. Reports that she does not need to give resignation letter because I am selling ans she is not going to work for the new employer. Her last contract that termination of servive by either party will require one month's notice or one month's salary in lieu thereof. Please advice
