Re: Resignation-Notice Period

Dear KL Siew,

My company is going through retrenchment exercise last week, I was told by my superior that I was in the list so I went for Interview & got an job offer from other company.

The final result in my current company was I was retained. But since I got a better offer I chose to resigned. However, my current company now is holding on my 3 months notice period upon confirmation as per offer letter. (And the new offer company cant wait for 3 month)

What can I do in order to leave earlier? I got a copy of confirmation letter from my current employer which wrongly stated my name. Can I claimed the confirmation as void with that letter?

Thanking you in advance.

I won't go into the wrong name part of it. How about the following ways?

1. Give 3 months notice and negotiate with your current employer for an early release without your having to pay indemnity or

2. If they won't release you, work as long as your new employer can afford to wait and then leave by paying up for the rest of the notice period.
