Re: Working Hours

Our office working hour is from 8.30 to 5.30pm (Mon to Fri) 8.30 to 12.30pm (Sat) but one month we are getting 2 Sat Off. Are we exceeded the working as per labour law. My other colleague said we are working 9 hrs in a day which include lunch 1 hrs break, but some said we are 8 hrs cause lunch is not included in the working hours. So confuse. Please advise! Thanks!

It does not include lunch break, see the definition of "hours of work" quoted below:

"Section 60A(9) For the purpose of this Part “hours of work” means the time during which an employee is at the disposal of the employer and is not free to dispose of his own time and movements."

If it doesn't include lunch break 1 hrs....so if our company working hour is 9am to 5pm meaning we are actually working 7 hrs in a day. Am I right?
