Re: Annual Leave - pro rated
My boss wants to know the annual leave entitlement (from Jan. 2010 to Dec. 2010) for a staff who joined in 1st October 2008.
Company Hand Book printed -
All confirmed employees are entitle to the following annual paid leave based on the tenure of service from the date he/she joined the Company.
14 days - 1-2 years completed service.
16 days - above 2 years - 5 years of completed service.
My calculation is -
Jan to Sept 2010 = 9 months /12 x 14 days = 10.5 days (round up to 11 days)
Oct to Dec 2010 = 3 months/12 x 16 days = 4 days
Total = 15 days
Am I correct?
The argument is that he said that we cannot pro - rate the annual leave for confirmed staff and he/she is entitled for 14 days only from Jan 2010 to Dec 2010. Next year onwards she is only entitled for the 16 days.
