Re: Praying Time

There is no provision under the Employment Act requiring employer to provide prayer room.

It's compulsory for employer to grant this prayers time to the employee?
Can employer request the employee to replace back the time loss spent due to praying. Because it may take 2 times for a day if their working hrs is 8am to 5.30pm. And each time will loss almost 20 minutes.

Please advise

For this type of query, I would prefer you refer it to the nearby Labour Department.

this is RELIGIOUS issue, but normally the 2 praying time that you said is taken normally in lunch time and teatime.so, from my experience there should be no problem with any company because not affect the work performance or company productivity.

My opinion regarding praying time and place for muslim employees, employer should discuss with the employees concern or/ and get the Labour Dept advice (muslim officer) and help in order to avoid any misunderstanding.
