Re: Maternity Leave

Can any of the corporate company not cover the following: -
1. Single Female, 2 month paid maternity leave?
2. Wages above RM1,500; no maternity leave?

Please advice.

1。 Unmarried female employees are also entitled to paid maternity leave.
2. For employees with salary above RM1500, it is important to have a maternity leave clause stated in the contract of service or appointment letter since they are not covered by the Employment Act.

Appointment letter no state. It only stated at employee manual as:-
Any employee who is disabled on account of pregnancy or related conditions may take a pregnancy-related disability leave of sixty consecutive days.

Therefore, any other way to confirmed that?

I am not sure what the manual is trying to say. It could be for 60 days of maternity leave. You will have to ask your HR for clarification.

Can the company terminate a confirmed staff due to the above issue?

If the staff's service is terminated, he or she can always bring the matter up with the Industrial Relations Department.
