Did probation staff (regardless their salary more than 1500 or less than) entitled MC & hospitalization leave? If entitled, is it calculated by pro-rated? Thanks

Sick leave entitlement is for calendar year unlike annual leave entitlement. So, for employees covered by the EA (those non-manual employees with salary not more than RM1500), sick leave and hospitalisation entitlement cannot be prorated. For those with salary over RM1500, I think it is best to treat them in the same manner in order to be uniform.

I did checked with labour office. They informed that the probation staff (under employment act 1955) is entitled for MC and hospitalization leave unless annual leave. Cannot calculated by pro-rated, it is given in full leave according to the leave entitlement stated in EA.

Yes, they are entitled to full sick leave/hospitalisation even under probation.
