JADUAL HARI KELEPASAN AM PERSEKUTUAN DAN NEGERI 2009 from Bahagian Kabinet, Perlembagaan Dan Perhubungan Antara Kerajaan, Jabatan Perdana Menteri,
Aras 4 Timur, Bangunan Perdana Putra (available through http://www.mef.org.my/public/PDF/2009PH.pdf) indicates that Thaipusam is a state public holiday for WP.

Pls advice which to follow as we're confused now.

dear andrea,

it depends on each company policy to determine whether they treat thaipussam as the company standard holiday. For government, banks & schools, yes they are closed on that day.

Following are the compulsory holiday which every company (in M'sia) must follow:
1. New year
2. Chinese New Year
3. Sultan's BD
4. Labour Day
5. Agong's BD
6. National Day
7. Deepavali
8. Hari Raya Puasa
9. Hari Raya Haji

therefore, better refer to your company Management.
