Re: Shift Allowance for Shared Service Center Industry

Saw many questions asked with relating to shift allowance entitlement. Would appreciate if you could enlighten me on the matters below:

1) Please advise whether it is employer's obligation to pay their shift workers the shift allowance under labour law or emplyment act?

Shift:
5.00 am - 2.00 pm
10.00 am - 7.00pm

Thanks

There is no provision for shift allowance under the Employment Act. It is mostly up to the employer to consider. You may request for some shift allowance especially for the 5am shift because of the hardship of getting up so early. But remember, there is no law.
