Re: GAZETTED HOLIDAY REPLACEMENT

Our working days is from Monday to Friday, Saturday is our Off day and Sunday is our Rest Day. There are different between off day and rest day. A rest day (for example Sunday in our case) is a must after a maximum of consecutive 6 working days (for example Monday to Saturday). An off day is normally given by Company at discretion (for example Saturday in our case). Thus every gazette public holiday falls on Rest Day (Sunday in our case)must be replaced but NO replacement is necessary of the gazette holiday falls on Off day (i.e. Saturday in our case). Some Companies do give replacement for public holiday falls on their off day, but this is all at the discretion not compulsory.

is this in line with the law?

Public Holiday falling on Saturdays are not replaced, only replaced when it falls on Sundays. You won't go wrong if you just follow the Government. There is no replacement holiday for Government servants when PH falls on Saturdays.
