We would like to retrench staff who has been working with us for 8 years and earning salary of rm4k+. This is due to restructuring of company organisational. What is the employment act say about this?

The Employment Act does not cover employees with salary over 1.5K. However, if you want to use it as a guide for payment of termination benefits, a person with 8 years service will be 20 days salary for every year of service. You can contact the Industrial Relations Department for further guidance.
