Re: Maternity

I was employed in the company for 10 months ago and gave birth to a baby girl on my 30 week of pregnancy. But unfortunately my baby died on the day of birth. I am yet to be legally married. But my company refused to give me any maternity leave with allowance stating that i had committed an inmoral act. Futher i had been employed for only 10 months and after all my baby died. Please explain the rules governing maternity terms and conditions and advise on my rights for maternity leave and allowance.

The Employment Act does not state that unmarried females are not entitled to paid maternity leave. In your case, you can make a complaint at the Labour Department.

No, the 60 days include rest days and public holidays, not 60 working days.
