Re: Claim on Sat & Sun

I am a sales person doin sales outstation every month. Do i have the right to claim for double pay to work on Sunday? I do get allowance for travelling. That is, i was paid RM85 per day. If i am travelling for 10 days (Sunday inclusive), i will be entitled for RM850 travelling allowance. Can i still ask my company to pay for double pay on Sunday? is it lawful to do so?

First you must be covered by the Employment Act, that is to say your salary is not more than RM1500 per month.

I know the work of travelling salesmen to be quite unique in the sense that there is practically no control by the employers over their working hours, working of rest days and so on. Isn't it up to you whether you want to work or rest on Sundays or not? Furthermore what is there to work when most of the shops and companies are closed on Sundays? Anyway, have you ever brought up the matter about working on Sundays with your employer? More info from you may allow me to have a better understanding of the problem.
