Hi, i do have some questions as below:

1. Does employment law protect part-timer? (We do not have any official employment letter)

2. I work in one of the Sports Toto outlet (in Kedah), RM25 perday, from 9am to 7pm. In the 20th Jan 2008 is Kedah Sultan's Birthday, we (me and my friend) was working on that day, but at the end of the month, the employer was just paying extra allowances RM12.50 for that public holiday, is it lawful? Do i have the right to make a complain?

我只是觉得很不值因为就连区区十几令吉那老板也要算在我们员工的头上!
And the most important is, we are not the first victim. A few previous employees were working on public holidays for the employers, but at the end when paying salary, the employer just paid for extra allowances (extra half day's salary). His reason is the business not very good.

I don't think that is correct. You should make a complaint at the Labour Department.

But the problem is we don' t have the official employment letter, would our complaint be entertain by the Labour Department?

By the way, may I know how should our salary be calculated on the Kedah Sultan Birthday's public holiday?
Is it RM50 for that day? (our daily salary is RM25)

If you are a daily rated worker, you should get 3x25.00 or 75.00 for working on public holiday. Let the Labour Department investigate and decide.
