Dear Sir / Mdm,

I have got a peculiar situation at hand and would require your assistance in this aspect.

My firm has a Singapore subsidiary who wants to hire a talented Malaysian to work in Singapore. Her job in Singapore would require frequent travel back to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and therefore this prospective employee is requesting if she can work from KL although she will be having a Singapore employment contract.

My subsidiary does not have an office nor an affiliation in Malaysia but as we are very interested to hire this candidate, we would like to seek adviosry if is it possible to hire her under Singapore's office but her physical working location will be based in KL.

Personally I don't see any problem since she is a Malaysian working in Malaysia. However, I think you should see to it that she has proper insurance coverage for working in Malaysia in case of any accident. In her case only Singapore labour laws will be applicable to her employment. This is not an expert opinion and it will be better if you consult your company lawyer in Singapore.
