i just joined a new company and was promised a sign on bonus of $xxxx payable on the first month .i was shocked that the amount i received is far less than what i had expected. they mentioned it is because of tax. Is this fair? shouldnt the offer letter mentioned the sign on bonus is taxable?
As far as I know, earnings of employees such as salary, bonus etc are liable for monthly tax deduction called Potongan Cukai Berjadual (PCB). I am afraid you have to clarify with your employer about the details.
